Is My Phone System Compatible?
Acuity’s SIP Trunking Services will work with almost all phone systems and even legacy ISDN or PSTN based PB'X’s can adapted to SIP. Your PBX will either support SIP out of the box, or may need a line card or SIP Gateway adapter installed. If you're not sure if your PBX will work, please contact us and we'd be happy to check for you.
How many SIP trunks do I need?
You need at least one SIP channel for every call happening at a given time. For example, 10 simultaneous calls will require 10 channels. The more your company grows, the more calls you will send and receive.
Do I need an internet connection for SIP?
Yes. You need an active internet connection to make and receive phone calls using your VoIP service.
How much bandwidth does a SIP trunk require?
A good rule of thumb is to reserve at least 83 Kbps of bandwidth per channel.
